Azam sees conspiracy to eliminate him

Continuing the tirade against Nupur Sharma, the suspended leader of Bharatiya Janata Party, senior Samajwadi Party leader Mohammed Azam Khan said he spearheaded the campaign for the Babri masjid for over two decades but never uttered a word against the Hindus and their religion.

“If somebody can cite a single instance where I ever said anything against Hinduism then I will quit Rampur along with my family forever. I did so as I sincerely follow my religion which prohibits speaking ill for other religions,” Azam Khan said in Rampur on Wednesday while campaigning for the Samajwadi Party candidate in the by-election to Rampur Lok Sabha seat.

Azam Khan said Prophet Mohammed never took revenge from those who  were against him and prayed for forgiveness from Allah for them.

Polling in Rampur is scheduled to be held on June 23. The Samajwadi Party has high stakes in Rampur Lok as it is fighting to retain this Lok Sabha seat.

Azam Khan was elected to Lok Sabha from Rampur in 2019. He contested the recent UP assembly election from Rampur and later resigned his Lok Sabha seat.

Recalling the ordeal he faced during the 27-month imprisonment Azam Khan   said, “The government left no stone unturned to eliminate me during the   pandemic. I was in jail and survived two waves of the COVID-19 pandemic,” he said.

Azam Khan said that he along with his son and wife were sent to jail and there was a conspiracy to kill all three inside the jail. He alleged that the conspiracy to eliminate him was still on.

Targeting his arch rival, the scion of Nawab Rampur Naved Mian, Azam Khan said, “Nawab, who can never win the support of the people, is advising the rivals of the Samajwadi Party in by-election to Rampur Lok Sabha seat.”

Much to the chagrin of Azam Khan and his party, the Nawab of Rampur, a Congress leader, has extended his support to the Bharatiya Janata Party.
