Azam Khan will feel pain of victims if his wife gets raped: IP Singh

Published on:
The war of unsavoury words continued unabated in Uttar Pradesh with state BJP spokesman IP Singh reacting to Urban Development minister Azam Khan insensitive remarks made yesterday, saying that Khan 'will realize how it felt when his wife and daughter were raped'. The weird comment drew immediate and strong reaction from political parties who demanded action against Singh.
Singh however defended his Facebook post saying that his statement was in connection with the comment made by Azam Khan on the Bulandshahr gang rape. Singh had posted on his FB page: " Miyan Azam Khan Ke Beti aur Bibi se gang rape ho jaye tab Azam ki aankh  khulegi Bulandshahr highway par 12 saal ki beti aur ma ke saath gangrape par ochi  baat kahi." (Azam Khan will realise when his wife and daughter are gangraped. Azam had used malicious words on the gang rape of  a mother and her 12-year-old daughter on Bulandshahar highway).
Talking to 'The Pioneer', Singh said that he had not written anything wrong and his words have misinterpreted by the media. “Husband of the raped woman had said the same thing and I just reproduced those words,” he said.
State BJP president, Keshav Prasad Maurya when contacted in New Delhi said that he was yet to get the details of the statement made by the party spokesperson. "We condemn the statement of Azam Khan ," Maurya said but was defensive on the statement of IP Singh.
Meanwhile, Opposition parties criticised the BJP spokesperson's statement and demanded action against him. SP spokesperson Rajendra Chaudhary said,“The intent of the BJP leader was not good and only shows their mentality,” he said.
Congress spokesperson Amarnath Agarwal said that the BJP is known for its hate speeches and IP Singh has just reproduced what he learnt in his party. He also demanded action against the BJP leader.
