Azam hits out at Modi

Senior Samajwadi Party leader and Uttar Pradesh Urban Development minister Mohammad Azam Khan said that the mindset of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi shows that he was unfit for the coveted post of the Prime Minister.

"Modi is talking about my cattle and other topics of least importance rather than developmental scheme his Government wants to chart out," Khan said while laying foundation stone of developmental projects of his department worth over Rs 50,000 here on Monday.

The speech of the Gujarat CM on irrelevant topics shows what exactly thinks, he said. "He does not have development in his agenda. He only thrives by dividing society on religious lines. Modi has grabbed power by intimidating Muslims. They were cowering with fear and know what will happen if Modi returns to power still they voted for BJP. Such a behaviour cannot be called secularism and it is a bolt in democracy," Azam Khan said.

"Instead in UP we promote brotherhood. You can see yourself the contribution of Muslims in organising Kumbh mela and similarly help extended by Hindus in construction of mosques," the SP leader said.

Hitting out at BJP national president Rajnath Singh he said that with election round the cornor the BJP Chief is now s ready to apologise to Muslims for his past mistakes. "The members of the minority community will only forgive him if he plays an important role in the construction of the Babri mosque," Khan said.

Regretting the opposition to SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav's proposed visit to Aligarh Muslim University, he said those opposing the visit should tell that what they had done for riot-affected people in Muzaffarnagar and claimed that Mulayam was the most secular leader in the country .
