Facing several probe both by the law enforcing agencies as well as other establishments meant to check corruption at high places which included lokayukta and Vigilance Establishment, Awadh Pal Singh Yadav, the former ministerial colleague of Mayawati, surrendered in a local court in Etah, on Monday. He was wanted by the police in triple murder case and a cash reward of Rs 5000 was also reportedly announced for his arrest. Interestingly, the former minister also tried to get immediate relief by seeking bail but his request was turned down and he was sent to jail on 14-days judicial remand. Two of Yadav’s kin including his son Ranjit, who also surrendered along with him, were also sent to jail.

Former minister Awadh Pal Singh Yadav, his son and nephew were charged with a triple murder in Jaithara on June 10, 2011 and seven other cases including attempt to murders, dacoity, rape and other case.  The ex-minister’s son Ranjit, who is a zila panchayat member and his nephew lalji Yadav were also involved in the same case. Reports said that the ex-minister and his son and nephew surrendered before the court in Etahon Monday morning and later the court rejected their bail application and send them to jail. The court of civil judge senior division Chandrapal(second) had send them to jail under judicial custody for 14 days.

Former minister and his kin had reportedly murdered jewelers Vijay Verma, Abhinav Verma and their gunner Santosh. The case was registered about much hue and cry as Yadav used his clout to get the matter hush up. But the local police registered a case against him and his associates but the minister along with his kin so far managed to evade arrest.

On Monday, soon after his bail plea has been turned down by the local court, Yadav, denied of his involvement in the case. Talking to media persons while going to jail, he accused his opponents of hatching a political conspiracy against him by getting a murder case registered against him and his family members. He also blamed Samajwadi Party MlA, Rameshwar Singh Yadav behind the conspiracy. He said that after SP government came to power in the State, 12 fake cases including murders and rape have been registered against him and his family members. “If I am a criminal then why I am going to jail for the first time in my life,” he questioned. He was a MlA from Aliganj Assembly seat in 2007 on BSP ticket and later became the dairy development minister in the Mayawati government.
