Anti Terrorist Squad(ATS) of Uttar Pradesh police has let off six persons, detained for their suspected links with terror organisation Islamic State, on Thursday. The release was made on Friday after the cops failed to find out any criminal activity against the accused even after grilling them for last more than 24-hours. However, the ATS team would seek police remand of four other arrested accused to grill them further. ATS sources confirmed here on Friday that the six detained have been released in Noida after interrogation. They were handed over to their families and have been warned that if any evidence were found against them in the future, action would be taken. However, as there is quite a possibility of these six to come under the sway of radical propaganda, police would go for de-radicalisation of these persons with support of their family members.
Meanwhile the four other arrested would be produced before the court here on Saturday by the ATS tem which would seek police custody for their further interrogation. ATS had on Thursday detained 10 people. Four of them were arrested for their alleged links with IS and other terror oganisations. Among the persons detained for alleged IS links were 25-year-old Mohammad Faizan, an imam of a local mosque in Bijnore. Three years ago, too, police had picked him up but he had been found innocent and let off after being kept in custody for a couple of days.
Faizan and three others were arrested during raids in Jhinjhana (Shamli), Bijnore, Narkatiya (East Champaran) in Bihar, Mumbai and Jalandhar in Punjab. They were identified as Umar aka Nazim, a resident of Mumbai, Gazi Baba aka Mujamil aka Zeeshan, hailing from Jalandhar in Punjab, and Jakwan aka Ehatsham of Bihar. They were picked up by security agencies to investigate their alleged links with Islamic State. They were suspected of plotting terror attacks at multiple locations across the country.
