Prime accused in the Tikunia road rage incident in Lakhimpur Kheri and Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra Teni’s son Ashish Mishra alias Monu was finally released from Lakhimpur District Jail after nearly four months on Tuesday evening.
On February 10, Lucknow Bench of Allahabad High Court had granted Ashish bail but his release was delayed due to some technical reasons. Also, the charges of Sections 302 (murder) and 120B (criminal conspiracy) were omitted in the order. After this, an amendment application was filed in the High Court on Friday. The District Judge ordered the release of Ashish Mishra on furnishing of two sureties of Rs 3 lakh each and a personal surety of the same amount.
Ashish was named as the prime accused for running over agitating four farmers and a journalist at Tikunia area of Lakhim pur Kheri on October 3. In retaliation, angry local residents had lynched three persons inlcuding the driver of the Ashish. Later, a SIT was formed which after a threadbare probe indicted Ashish Mshra along with some others. The SIT later filed a 4000-page chargesheet in the Chief Judicial Magistrate court in Kheri after which Ashish was sent to jail on October 10.
