IPS officer Amitabh Thakur took on senior Bharatiya Janta Party leader Ram Jethmalani and had sent a complaint to the National Commission for Women (NCW) regarding the improper and unsubstantiated comments made by senior advocate against the sexually assaulted minor girl.
Self-styled Godman Asaram’s lawyer Jethmalani allegedly said that the girl "was afflicted with a chronic disease, which draws a woman to a man and said that this was subject to police investigation." Thakur has said that this statement is insulting and derogatory against the young girl of 16, facing the worst trauma of her life and for the dignity of the entire women-hood in general, considering the social position of Jethmalani and the weight that his words command. Hence, in his complaint lodged with the NCW, Thakur has prayed to Chairman Mamata Sharma to enquire into the matter and initiate legal proceedings as per the enquiry report against the senior advocate.
