The city of Nawab gears up for mega show of ruling Samajwadi Party when it will host three day national executive meeting to take stock of political situation of the state as Akhilesh Yadav Government has completed half way of its tenure.

The city is already painted in green and red color, the party colour with flags and hoardings put up across all important crossings and sidewalks.

The national executive meeting starts on October 8 and will continue till October 10. Being held in the city after 22 longs years since the party’s inception, the meet comes at a very critical juncture for the party as it’s being held exactly halfway into the party’s five-year term.

The main agenda of the convention will be to re-elect party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav as national president of the party for another three-year term. During the convention, the party will also adopt political and economic resolutions.

The convention will also mark party’s foundation day celebrations as it turns 22 this October, party spokesman Rajendra Chaudhry said. The party came into being on October 4,1992.

As a mark of respect for one of its founder members Janeshwar Misra, the leadership will also unveil his 20 feet tall statue at the venue.  The venue will have a 75,000 square feet waterproof pandal, and to ensure speeches of leaders reach every ear a 40,000 watt sound system has been installed An Army of more than 1000 workers is working round the clock to ensure arrangements are in place and on time.

‘’We have got this all-weather 450 X 60 feet pandal for the convention meeting and another 500 X 100 feet weather proof pandal for serving food to the delegates over the three days,’ said UP sports and youth welfare minister Narad Rai, who is the in-charge of the arrangements.

Arrangements have been made for around 10,000 participants as they will be served scrumptious Awadhi, South Indian and Punjabi cuisines. As many as 24 huge speaker boxes and 93 cone loudspeakers would comprise main Public Address System (PAS), he said.

Apart from a well-equipped media centre with laptops for  media persons to file their reports from the site, a multi-line phone system and data transfer system has been installed. A set of 6 multi-cam units with computerised remote controlled camera crane will cover the entire event 24X7 and will be relayed to two dozen lED screen installed within the venue and on roads leading to the venue.

For adequate lodging of the delegates, almost all the major hotels of the city have been booked for four days starting October 7. Three sets of reception committees have been formed to pick-up delegates from the three railway stations in lucknow including Badshahnagar and Charbagh. Twenty buses and 100 cars have been attached to each of the three committees to ferry delegates who arrive at lucknow by rail, to their place of lodging.

There is suspense whether expelled SP leader Amar Singh has been invited for this convention. Singh had participated in the inaugural function of the Janeshwar Mishra park on the invitation from Mulayam Singh Yadav. “I have no idea about this. Only Netaji (Mulayam Singh) or Akhilesh Yadav can confirm this. Though we will welcome everyone,” he said.
