Arakshan Bachao Sangharsh Samiti warned the BJP government

With the BJP-led Union government deciding to expedite the passage of Constitution (117th amendment) Bill providing for reservation in promotion  for employees in government departments, the proponents and opponents of the move have stepped up their efforts.

The Sarvajan Hitya Sankrashan Samiti representing upper castes and OBCs employees thus the Bill have announced to submit a memorandum to Union ministers and MPs. They have also decided to observe June 17 as ‘Black Day’ and hold a massive rally in New Delhi during Monsoon session.

On the other hand, Arakshan Bachao Sangharsh Samiti warned the BJP government that the SC / ST employees were getting restive and not willing to wait further and the Bill be passed by lok Sabha as early as possible.

Convenor of Sarvajan Hitya Sankrashan Samiti, Shailendra Dubey on Friday said that during a meeting, it was decided to observe June 17 as ‘Black Day’ and to hold a rally in New Delhi.

In March, 2012, the Supreme Court had quashed a legislation providing for reservation in promotion. The then Congress-led UPA government had introduced it and passed Constitution (117th amendment) Bill from the Rajya Sabha in 2013.

“We will hand over a memorandum to BJP ministers and MPs and also opposition leaders about the adverse impact of the proposed legislation. This draconian legislation will affect around 18 lakh government employees and officials of UP besides six lakh government teachers,” Dubey said.

Meanwhile, the Arakshan Bachao Sangharsh Samiti maintained that Dalits suffered a lot in the past five years after the previous Samajwadi Party government demoted thousands of Dalit employees and teachers.

“We will  not accept any promise by the BJP  and our sole demand is that the related Bill be passed by lok Sabha and we will not wait for the 2019 lok Sabha polls,” an office bearer said.
