Carrying forward its commitment towards Mission Rozgar, the Uttar Pradesh government on Wednesday handed over appointment letters to 3,209 tubewell operators, including 516 women.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, while handing over the appointment letters, said that it was for the first time that youth were getting government jobs in UP without recommendations and favouritism.
“Merit is the only criterion on which the successful candidates have got appointment. The recruitment process (of the government) has remained transparent since its formation and over four lakh youth have got employment in the past three-and-half years,” he said.
Over 15 lakh youth got employed in the private sector during the same period and more than 1.5 crore youth were now self-employed with financial assistance from banks, he added.
“With our continuous efforts, the farmers of the state are now getting seeds and irrigation facilities on time. Besides, the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi, PM Fasal Beema Yojana, Per Drop More Drop and other schemes are making agriculture more profitable for the farmers,” the chief minister said.
He said farmers were the foundation of a prosperous state and keeping this in mind, the UP government was continuously working towards doubling their income.
“We are making all efforts for the prosperity of the farmers,” he added.
“Tubewell operators play an important role in farming and for the first time that women have been appointed to this post. Besides this, water conservation also forms an important part of their duties,” the chief minister said.
While the chief minister handed over appointment letters to Shobhit Shukla, Sujit Narayan, Arun Kumar, Khyati Sharma and Kanchan Nishad at a programme held in Lucknow, the others were given the appointment letters by people’s representatives in programmes held at the district level.
Speaking on the occasion, UP’s Jal Shakti Minister Dr Mahendra Singh said that the past three-and-half years had been historic for the department.
“It is after 2011 that tubewell operators have been appointed. In addition, the area of irrigated land in the state has increased to 23 lakh hectares. For the first time, the selected youth have been given a month’s training and in addition, they have been given appointments in districts opted by them,” he said.
