Another setback to BSP as Sukhdev Rajbhar quits active politics

In a major setback to Bahujan Samaj Party, its senior most legislator and former speaker of Uttar Pradesh Assembly, Sukhdev Rajbhar, has decided to retire from politics and announced that his son would join Samajwadi Party to strengthen the fight for Dalits and backwards.

In an emotional two-page letter to SP president Akhilesh Yadav, a copy of which was sent to BSP supremo Mayawati on Saturday, Rajbhar, a dedicated BSP leader, said “I am sick and leaving active politics”.

Urging SP president Akhilesh Yadav to take his son in the party to strengthen the Dalit and backwards’ movement, Rajbhar said that he was upset with the recent development in BSP.

Rajbhar's son Kamalakant Rajbhar is likely to don the shoes of his father in the coming 2022 assembly polls but from SP.

Sukhdev Rajbhar is currently MLA from Didarganj assembly constituency in Azamgarh. In his letter, he wrote how the ideology of Kanshi Ram was shattered and the party had departed from its original goal.
