In a daring incident, four armed unidentified miscreant shot a jeweler and looted jewelries from his shop in Meerut police station area on Sunday noon.
According to a report, the victim identified as Rohit (30) of Saraswati Vihar under Transport Nagar police station ran a shop in Rohta Road area under Kakarbagh police station. Around noon when he was sitting at his shop the miscreants reached the shop on two different vehicles.
They were wielding arms in their hand. The police said the miscreants opened fire on the victim without a provocation and decamped with looting jewelries from the shop. The looted jewelries are said to be of worth Rs several lakh.
The other shop owners rushed the shop after the miscreants fled the scene. They rushed the victim to hospital where he succumbed to the injuries. The police had registered a case in this connection and further investigations are on. The cops are yet to ascertain if loot was the motive behind the fatal attack or the miscreants did the same to mislead the police in order to hide their real intent. The cops no enmity angle come to light in the investigations made so far in the case.
