Anger brews over Mulayam, VHP leaders' meeting

Anger is brewing amongst Muslim over the meeting of  Samajwadi Party Chief, Mulayam Singh Yadav with  Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leaders in lucknow two  days back. It swelled further after leading Islamic  seminary, Darul Uloom Deoband received nearly 100  letters from Muslims seeking instructions about the move  they should take against Mulayam over Ramjanam  Bhoomi-Babri Masjid issue.

In the letters sent to Fatwa wing of Darul Uloom Deoband,  Darul Uloom Waqf and Darul Uloom Madani, two  questions have been prominently asked. Firstly, When  VHP had asked Mulayam's contribution in the issue, what  should be Muslim's action on itIJ and secondly, How could Mulayam speak or act on behalf of MuslimIJ As per local sources, around 100-150 letters have been sent  to those Islamic institutions asking the Muftis (fatwa  issuing authorities) to issue directions for Muslim over  Mulayam's recent move.

The questions were not only from Saharanpur or Uttar  Pradesh but from other parts of the country, showing the  impact. "The Muslims are angry over meeting with VHP  leaders over such an important issue. Now they want to  know what action Muslims should take on it," said sources. Even local Madarsas in Saharanpur, were also in contact  with the seminary over the issue and many individuals have  personally met the authorities for knowing about further  action need to be taken by Muslim community. "The letters  might have come in the knowledge of seminary authorities  but so far they have not answered any of the questions,"  said seminary sources.
