After 24-hours of suspension of district police chief of Bulundshahr Vaibhav Krishna and other officers in connection with the sensational highway loot and gang rape of female members, state government finally posted 2009 batch IPS officer Anees Ahmad Ansari as the new Senior Superintendent of Police in Bulandshahr, on Monday morning.
On directions of the chief minister Akhilesh Yadav, ADG (law and order) Daljeet Chowdhary also claimed to have issued two circulars one regarding to be more sensitive and quick in responding to crimes against members of fairer sex and second to identify ten most vulnerable points on National Highway on crime record basis and strengthened highway patrolling in those areas with immediate effect. The circulars were issued on Monday evening. Interestingly, the alertness of the cops has been exposed when even after chief minister’s warning, yet another road hold-up was reported from Hathras and that too on the same NH-91 on which the Buludshahr incident took place.
According to official communiqué released on Monday afternoon, government posted Commandant of 34th batallion of Provincial Armed Constabulary, Anees Ahmed Ansari as now SSP of Bulundshahr. Maan Singh Chauhan has been posted as Additional SP in place of Rammohan Singh, who was also suspendedon Sunday along with other junior officers who were having their jurisdiction in the area where the sensational crime was committed. Facing the flak from Opposition, the government had suspended five officers, including the SSP. On Monday, all the three accused arrested by the police have been also sent to jail on judicial remand. On Sunday, the cops arrested the three accused — Naresh (25), Bablu (22) and Rais (28) – and detained a dozen others after launching a massive hunt for a gang of dacoits belonging to criminal tribe popularly known as `Kucthcha Baniyan’ gang and suspected to be behind the highway crimes. “The trio have been remanded in judicial custody for 14 days by a Bulandshahr court,” IG (law and Order) Hare Ram Sharma told reporters here. Gold ornaments of the victims and Rs 5,500 cash were recovered from the accused, he said, adding a request would be made for trial by a fast-track court.
Efforts will be made to file the charge sheet at earliest, he said. Seven to eight more names have come up and the police have constituted six teams to nab them, Sharma said. It may be mentioned that a gang of over half a dozen miscreants had gang raped a woman and her 13-year-old daughter on gunpointon Friday night after dragging them out of a car in Bulandshahr on NH-91 when they were travelling with their family from Noida to Shahjahanpur. The criminals also brutally assaulted the male members of the family when they opposed sexual abuse.
Meanwhile reports from Hathras confirmed that a group of armed men looted cash and valuables worth lakhs of rupees from passengers of a state roadways bus in Sikandarau area on Sunday night. Eight people boarded the Hamirpur-bound bus at Pant crossing on Sunday night. After some time, two of them took out country-made pistols and forced the driver to take the bus to a secluded spot, police said. The other six accused robbed the passengers at gunpoint and decamped with the cash and valuables, they said, adding the passengers walked to the nearest police station and informed about the incident. SP (Superintendent of Police) Ajay Pal rushed to the spot with other policemen. An all-out effort has been launched to nab the culprits.
