The local panchayat in Muzaffarnagar once again created controversy when they ordered social boycott of a family whose kin eloped with a village girl after facing stiff opposition by their family members.
The local police who so far not took cognizance of dictorial’ direction of the Panchayat had deployed heavy police force in the area to avert clash between the two groups. surprisingly, in fear of being lynched by the other group, the family members of the boy also said to have left the village.
Reports said that two teenagers hailing from Madwadih locality of Muzaffarnagar were in love with each other and also wanted to enter into wedding lock but their move was opposed by their family members just as they both belonging to separate religion. after finding no other way to live life together as couple, both reportedly eloped from the area on April 6 last. This agitated the family members of the girl who not just registered a case of kidnapping against the boy and his family members but also attacked their house threatening them with dire consequences if the girl will be not set free.
Reports further said that before the local police could swung into action, father of the girl also took up the matter before the local panchayat which summoned both the parties on Sunday. Sources said that after going through the sequence of events, the panchayat ordered that entire village should boycott the family members of the boy and force them to set the girl free so she should return to her home. The panchayat also not approved the `marriage’ between the duo until the consent of both the families should be made. Soon after the above `dictate’ of the panchayat, the family members of the boy left the village in fear that they could be further attacked in the matter.
Sources said that after finding tension between the two groups particulary after the orders of the local panchayat, senior officers deployed heavy police force in the area so that simple case of elopement might not result into communal clash in the area. teams were also formed to recover the couple and produce them in the local court so that appropriate legal proceedings could be made later on.
