Allahabad HC verdict orders CBI probe into Jawahar Bagh violence

The state unit of BJP welcomed the Allahabad High Court’s verdict ordering a CBI probe into the Jawahar Bagh violence of Mathura last year in which 29 people were killed and hoped that the state government would be exposed.

“The HC verdict clearly proves the real face of the SP government and their slogan of ‘kaam bolta hai’ will be beaten hollow. Now, it is the turn  of the people of the state to question the SP-Congress alliance on their motives and SP’s nexus with criminals,” state BJP general secretary Vijay Bashadur Pathak said on Thursday.

In a statement issued in lucknow, Pathak said that there were several such incidents during the SP regime that needed impartial probe, including the appointment racket  in government departments.

“The BJP, from day one, has been demanding a CBI probe into the Jawahar Bagh violence. We had asserted that the ruling SP was hand-in-glove with prime accused Ramvriksh Yadav, who had grabbed the prime land and later challenged the court, as well as the government,” he further said.

“Everyone knows who had given patronage to Ramvriksh Yadav and how the state government protected these criminals,” Pathak alleged.

The BJP leader said after the incident, state BJP president Keshav Prasad Maurya had launched a website ‘kabja.com’, where applications were sought from people of the state, whose land or property had been grabbed illegally by the criminals or mafia.

“We have received thousands of such applicants and once the BJP forms the government in the state, these issues would be taken up,” he added.

But the timing of HC ruling could give the ruling SP a jolt, as the crucial Assembly polls in the state are underway and only two phases of elections were left.
