All UP dists to have modern bus stations

Enhancing the standards of public transport, Uttar Pradesh is soon going to have at least one state-of-the-art bus station in each district. The chief minister has directed the officials to prepare an action plan for the same.

Chairing a high-level review meeting, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that UP State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) buses were one of the most commonly used means of transport in inter-state and intra-state travel hence there was need for comprehensive policy reforms to provide hassle-free and comfortable transport services to the common man.

“Set a target to transform at least one bus station with state-of-the-art facilities in all the districts on a public-private partnership (PPP) model. Cooperation can be taken from private companies and an action plan should be prepared on that basis,” the chief minister said.

He said the demand for bus services was high, given their easy availability and comparatively cheaper fares and this was why new modern bus stations were the need of the hour.

“We are taking forward the work of the first regime to make state-of-the-art bus stations that will offer improved and better facilities to bus passengers,” he said.

He said the top priority under the scheme will be clean drinking water for passengers and water coolers for relief from heat. He said bus stations should be repainted and timetables and fare tables should be displayed.

He said along with proper arrangement of lighting, air-conditioners should also be installed to give some respite from the scorching heat and there should also be regular cleaning of toilets to ensure hygiene and cleanliness.

In the Lok Kalyan Sankalp Patra 2022, the Bharatiya Janata Party has promised to provide better transport facilities. There is a provision to make 25 bus depots of global standard in the next five years.
