AKTU students to give ODOP a tech push

Utilising technology, the students of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU) will now aid in improving the Uttar Pradesh government's One District, One Product flagship scheme.

Not only this, now the fragrance of Kannauj's perfume and hing (asafetida) of Hathras will be spread worldwide as the students will teach the art of selling ODOP products in the international and national markets.

An incubation centre is also going to be set up in Lucknow University to promote the ODOP scheme.

In this regard, the AKTU has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the MSME Department.

AKTU spokesperson Ashish Mishra said that the university would also organise a Hackathon after the semester exams to connect students with the ODOP scheme. Students from more than 250 affiliated institutes of the AKTU will be involved in this exercise.

The BTech students will help in re-identifying the products under ODOP scheme by integrating them with technology so that the 'Made in UP' products create a mark at the international level.

AKTU Vice Chancellor Prof Vinay Kumar Pathak said that the innovative ideas of the students would give a new identity to these products.

"The students of the university will also be sharing their ideas on better management of products. With the promotion of the state's products, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of a 'Self-reliant' India will also come true," he said.

Being one of the ambitious schemes of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, ODOP is aimed at making the products manufactured in different districts of the state popular nationally and internationally. It also makes artisans self-reliant by providing them employment opportunities, directly and indirectly.
