Hailing Delhi’s result as a victory of Aam Aadmi Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should realise that issues like love jehad and ghar vapsi cannot win elections for Bharatiya Janata Party. “Delhi result is just the beginning. Similar results are expected in the coming days. Even in Uttar Pradesh BJP will suffer humiliating defeat and Samajwadi Party will emerge winners,” he said while addressing a rally in Bulandshahr on Tuesday.
Addressing a function to launch several government schemes and distributing cheques to the beneficiaries of the Samajwadi Pension scheme he said BJP had become arrogant after historic victory in lok Sabha elections. Party leaders and some Union Ministers were considering themselves as demigods, Chief Minister said.
He said the Centre was interested in collecting taxes from the people ignoring the basic needs of the people. Union Government should answer as why he had failed to transferr the benefit to the masses on petroleum prices and others issues,” he said. In lucknow, senior Samajwadi Party leader Md Azam Khan termed Delhi poll result as country’s mandate against BJP. “Delhi is represented by people of all states in the country and hence it was a nation’s mandate against the BJP,’ Khan said in a statement issued here.
He said during the lok Sabha elections, people rejected Congress and made BJP its alternative but just within nine months time, people rectified their fault and selected AAP in place of BJP. ‘Delhi elections have strengthened democracy in the country as it has rejected a party which thrived on communal politics. I hope that this new AAP government will fulfill the promises it had made to the people,” the UP Minister said.
Another senior leader Shivpal Singh Yadav said that AAP’s victory in Delhi is clear indication that people wants development. BJP thrived on false promises and people were able to see through the misdeeds of the party and taught Prime Minister Narendra Modi a lesson, he said. “AAP’s victory is a victory of democracy and secular forces,” he said in lakhimpur Khiri.
