The Akhilesh Yadav Government has decided to go by rule book when it decided to take action against the officials who fail to monitor implementation of development schemes in the ground level.
A terse warning has been issued to the District Magistrates and Divisional Commissioners to ensure Government schemes are implemented in letter and in spirit. In case of any complaint the fault lies with these officials, the order says.
Chief Secretary Alok Ranjan said in his communication to the district level officials that DMs and Commissioners should review the development schemes in regular basis. These officials are also expected to carry out surprise inspections to ensure these work are done as per the specification, he said.
“The Government rule says that district magistrate is responsible to implement all the development schemes in his district. The Commissioner is expected to review the work. Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav only expects these officials to work as per the rule book and do their duty,” Ranjan said.
The Government has tightened the noose after reports of lack of development in the villages. Chief Minister was informed that many of the development schemes were not implemented in true spirit. Thus, the officials were asked to carry out inspections. They were asked to attend Tehsil diwas to ensure full participation of officials at the tehsil level and redressal of the problems of people there and then.
Chief Secretary said that district magistrates have been asked to solve the problems of the people at district level and in case of any discord the matter should be sent to commissioner. “These matter should not be sent to the Government level until it is a policy decision and needs government’s intervention,” he said.
