Reiterating his demand for resignation of Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, BJP state president Keshav Prasad Maurya said that recent developments in the state have proved that Akhilesh Yadav has lost the moral right to rule.
“The Uttar Pradesh has been rocked by a series of incidents where poor people have to bore the brunt. The women were raped; people were killed and protesters demanding rights for people were shot dead. The Government only ended up with suspending officials. This drama of suspension should end,” Maurya said in a written statement issued here on Sunday.
He said that Yadav also heads the home department. So he is accountable for deterioration in law and order. “When he is not able to control the crime he should quit and pass on the baton to someone else,” BJP state president said.
Maurya said that recent High Court order allowing CBI probe into the Bulandshahar gang rape case is true statement of present scenario of UP. The Chief Justice said that in Maharashtra girls can roam freely at night but in UP women cannot travel at night even with family, he said.
“People are traumatized in UP. They are afraid of moving out at night. The police cannot take action against criminals because they are getting patronage from the political leaders. This is high time CM should quit,” he said.
