In an attempt to streamline administration Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has asked officials at the district level to be present in the office during morning hour so that people can meet them to resolve their problems.

“The officers at the district level should be present in their respective offices between 10 am and 12 noon on all the working days so that they can meet people. There should not be any laxity. The erring officials would be punished,” Yadav said in a written statement issued here on Thursday. Yadav has entrusted Chief Secretary Alok Ranjan with the job to ensure attendance of all the officials. The district officials are asked to install basic phones in their offices and send the telephone numbers to the Chief Secretary’s office by August 11.

“This is done to ensure attendance of officers in the office. People from lucknow will call up these officers at random basis to know about the location of the said officer,” Ranjan said. Besides, DM and Commissioners have also been asked to ensure attendance of district officials in their offices. They should give their report to Chief Secretary’s office fortnightly, the statement said.
