In an attempt to scuttle the BSP's move of forging a Dalit-Brahamin combine in the next 2014 lok Sabha polls, SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav said that the Akhilesh Yadav government was reviewing all cases lodged against Brahmins during the previous regime.

''I have asked the law Secretary to review all the cases of SC / ST Act and others registered against the Brahmins. These should be withdrawn as per rules,'' he said while addressing a conclave at the SP headquarters in lucknow on Friday.

The announcement assumes significance in view of Mayawati wooing Brahmins by organising conferences from May 4 next. The BSP has also announced 36 candidates for the next lok Sabha polls and almost half of them are Brahmins.

Earlier, the SP government had announced to withdraw cases against Muslim youths implicated in terror cases. his week it withdrew cases against HuJI ultra Tariq Qasmi - an accused in the Gorakhpur serial blast cases of 2007 which left six people injured.

Yadav said that the SP government has always accorded honour and respect to the Brahamins, who had supported the party in the last Assembly polls. '' The Brahamins have promoted me and they were my backbone when I was heading the state. What I have achieved today is because of them," he said.

The former UP CM, however, ured the Brahamins to fight for their rights as the community had provided leadership and direction to the country.

He said during his tenure as CM in 2003-07, Sanskrit was given importance and it was promoted. ''This government will too do the same as Sanskrit is a language used by the people for functions from birth to death,'' he said.

Talking about Akhilesh Yadav government's to honour the Brahamins, he said that the Janeshwar Mishra Eco-park in Gomti Nagar Extension has a total area of 307 acres and is bigger than the lohia Park in size.

Yadav also said that the SP had attached adequate importance to Acharya Hazari Prasad Dwivedi and his writings had been included in text books of UP Board.
