Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday, demanded the resignation of the Narendra Modi government at the Centre over the Karnataka ‘fiasco’.

“The Assembly poll in Karnataka have proved that  people’s mandate is bigger than money power. This day will be marked by the victory of peoples’ power over money power,’’ said Akhilesh in a Tweet.

Without naming the BJP, the SP chief said : `those who were claiming to purchase everything, have got a befitting reply that there are lot of people still, who do not consider politics as business’.

Akhilesh said  that the Prime Minister should step down owning moral responsibility for the failure of Karnataka BJP Chief Minister Yeddyurappa to prove majority on the floor of the Assembly.

Meanwhile, state Communist Party of India (Marxist-leninist) said that that resignation of Yeddyurappa before the Trust vote was the defeat of Modi and Shah.

State CPI secretary Sudhakar Yadav said that the effort to hijack democracy in Karnataka failed and it was the win of the people of the country.  “The illegal act of Karnataka Governor was also exposed in the entire action,” he said.
