In an attempt to expand the Samajwadi Party base ahead of the lok Sabha election, the ruling party’s state president and Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav would visit Jharkhand and address a public meeting in Ranchi on Thursday.
SP state spokesman and minister Rajendra Chaudhary said that Akhilesh Yadav would address a public meeting in Ranchi on Thursday. “Yadav has already visited Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Rajasthan and other states to strengthen the party base and the Jharkhand visit was also on his agenda,” he added.
Chaudhary said the Samajwadi Party was a viable alternative to the two national parties — the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party — and there was all possibility of a third front forming government after the lok Sabha election. “Yadav will also assess the political situation in Jharkhand during his visit and will do groundwork for the alternative front. He will also finalise party candidates for lok Sabha election from Jharkhand,” the SP state spokesman added. Before leaving for Ranchi, the Chief Minister held a 4-hour-long Janata Darshan at his official residence here on Wednesday and listened to the problems of more than 1,000 people who thronged his 5, Kalidas Marg residence.
Chaudhary said the Janata Darshan was very successful and Yadav himself attended to the problems of the people and even ordered monetary assistance to the poor for their medical needs. “The Chief Minister has issued directives to all the officials present at the Janata Darshan to redress the grievances of the people at the earliest,” Chaudhary said.
