Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has criticised the University Grants Commission move to allow foreign universities to open their campuses in India.
Yadav claimed it was yet another move of the Bharatiya Janata Party government at the Centre to deprive the students of the Other Backward Classes (OBCs) of reservation and their due share in power structure.
“It is not known as to how the campus of foreign universities will benefit the Indian students. It is certain that there will be no place for the OBCs in the Indian campus of such universities,” Akhilesh Yadav said here on Saturday.
“The BJP, known for its stance against social justice and reservation for the OBCs, is repeatedly targeting reservation to end the quota for the deprived sections of society,” Akhilesh Yadav said.
He added, “Reservation to OBCs was denied by the UP government during the appointment of assistant professors in state universities.”
Claiming that the BJP government was adopting a back door move to end the reservation for the OBCs, Akhilesh Yadav said, “Foreign universities are being permitted for this purpose.”
“BJP is indulging in antics to show that it favours reservation for the OBCs; the people have seen through the game of the saffron party and they would give a befitting reply to the ruling party in the next Lok Sabha elections,” Akhilesh Yadav claimed.
