Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav said that the Bharatiya Janata Party should not worry about 2024 and instead answer people's questions in 2022.
“The BJP should not worry about 2024 general elections but answer people's questions in the 2022 assembly elections. People of Gorakhpur are waiting to see development. I have come here to appeal for the development of the state," Akhilesh said while leading his party's 'Rath Yatra' in Gorakhpur and sounding the campaign bugle for UP assembly elections in 2022.
The SP chief launched the fourth leg of Vijay Yatra from Gorakhpur to Kushinagar on Saturday. Akhilesh reached Gorakhpur by a private jet on Saturday and was accorded a warm welcome by thousands of party leaders and workers. Later he boarded the `Vijay Yatra Rath’ and proceeded towards Kushinagar.
Along with the supporters, SP leaders and contenders for assembly elections welcomed the party chief with great enthusiasm. Due to heavy rush, the Vijay Yatra Rath reached Rajhi roundabout from Air Force Station in about 25 minutes. After staying there for about five minutes, Akhilesh greeted the crowd gathered at the reception and then left for Kushinagar accompanied by hundreds of four-wheelers and bike riders.
Addressing a large gathering of SP cadre and supporters donning the red cap at Gorakhpur, the SP chief claimed that such a large turnout of the people in Vijay Yatra in the hometown of BJP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath itself was a major indication of the assembly poll results in 2022.
Akhilesh targeted the Centre over galloping inflation and unemployment and claimed that his party would come to the power in the state after the next assembly polls.
"The SP will win over 400 seats in UP. Inflation and unemployment have aggravated the crisis for the common people of the state and they have made up their mind to throw out the BJP in 2022 assembly elections,” he said.
“During the five-year term of the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh, every person has been insulted every day. Now it is the time for these people to take revenge. The BJP government is filling the coffers of the rich by cutting the pockets of the poor. The BJP government’s promise of curbing inflation has proved to be false as inflation is galloping. The youth are unemployed and there has been 0no development in Gorakhpur,” he said.
The SP president further said, “One should not forget those days when lockdown was imposed and migrant labourers had to walk from Maharashtra-Gujarat to Uttar Pradesh. During the COVID-19 period, people needed help in hospitals but the government left them to die.”
