Akhilesh slams BJP Govt over law and order issue in state

Published on:

Targeting the Yogi and Modi governments respectively over law and order issue, Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav said that aftermaking tall claims during the Assembly poll on imporving the situation, the BJP has failed to deliver.

“The BJP is ruling at both the Centre and UP. I would like to know why the law and order situation in the state is under so much stress. There is a spate in heinous crimes and incidents of BJP leaders and their kin misbehaving and clashing with the police across UP,’’ said Akhilesh in Kanpur where he had gone to attend a marriage function on Monday.

“The Yogi government owes an explanation to the people as to why BJP leaders were pressuring the police and administration officials in districts. In one district, the local MlA publically humiliated a young woman probationer IPS officer. Similar incidents have happened in Agra, Saharanpur, Shahjehanpur and other districts. The present regime has failed to control law and order and it seems to be in a helpless situation,” charged the former Chief Minister.

However, Akhilesh refused to reply to a volley of questions about the statements of his father Mulayam Singh Yadav and uncle Shivpal Yadav.  He also refused to comment on brother Prateek’s wife Aparna Yadav’s suggestion that Akhilesh should step down from the post of SP president.

A day before, on Sunday, Mulayam Singh had said that it was the biggest mistake of life to annoint Akhilesh as Chief Minister of UP. He had also criticised his son for forging a poll-alliance with Congress despite his opposition.

Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party sources said that the process of weeding out supporters of Shivpal Yadav from the party will continue and more heads were likely to roll.

On Monday, Akhilesh had expelled five Shivpal loyalists including two former party spokesmen.

With the power struggle in SP’s first family reaching a decisive turn, sources said that the party chief has decided to be ruthless against dissenters within and more leaders were likely to be expelled in coming days.

Akhilesh wants to complete the clean up process within the party before commencement of urban local bodies poll, the notification for which is likely to be issued by the month end.
