Akhilesh said BJP is trying to confuse voters

Calling BJP as a “Chalu Party” (cunning party) Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said it was trying to confuse voters by raising non-existent issues like love jehad so that it can divide the society on the religious lines.

‘’During general elections the party leaders misled voters  by raising slogans like  ‘Acche Din Aane Wale hai’ – but it never came. Now the party has raised controversial issue of love Jehad,’’ he said while addressing an election meeting in Mainpuri on Wednesday.

Tej Pratap Singh, is SP  candidate from the Mainpuri lok Sabha seat which is vacated by party president Mulayam Singh Yadav. CM questioned steps taken by the BJP Government to control price rise, protect international borders or provide jobs to the youth.’’ Have they done anythingIJ’’ he asked the people and they replied “No”

‘’Now BJP’s only effort is to divide the country on the name of religion and caste. But Samajwadi Party would never allow the BJP leaders to do so,’’ he said.

Attacking BJP MP Yogi Adityanath without taking his name, Yadav said it was only Mulayam Singh Yadav who took stringent action against him after which the Yogi wept in the lok Sabha. ‘’These people are very weak. We need to take strong action against them to prevent them from fulfilling their evil desigsn,’’ he said.

Appealing to the people to support the SP candidate in the Mainpuri lok Sabha by-elections, the CM said SP had always fulfilled its promises and cared for the poor . ‘’I also entered politics by contesting by-election from Kannauj though I did not know how to address a public meeting. But Tej Pratap is a good orator and will serve you throughout his life,’’ he said.

The UP CM, on the occasion, also criticized the Centre for the power crisis in the state and alleged that due to short supply of coal most of the power units in UP are on the verge of closure or are generating less power.

He also did not spare the media and said” Media had criticized UP government for the Badaun gang rape case. The truth has now come to the fore. But now how can I blame the media. It is very powerful”.

Party’s national general secretary Ram Gopal Yadav, Cabinet rank minister Rajendra Chaudhry and Aridaman Singh too addressed the rally.

Akhilesh Yadav has only campaigned in Mainpuri lok Sabha in this by-election and did not campaign in the remaining 11 assembly seats in the state going to by-elections.

SP president Mulayam Singh Yadav has extensively campaigned in Mainpuri for three days while his younger brother and UP minister Shivpal Singh Yadav was camping in the constituency for the past one week. Polling in Mainpuri seat will be held on September 13.
