The reality hit Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on the first day of his inspection when villagers complained about non-availability of power, medicines, food grains and fertilizers forcing him to transfer district magistrate Srawasti  and suspended six others for dereliction of duty.

The suspended officers were head of health, agriculture, power, RES, Food and Civil Supplies and mines department at the district level.

“The officers who will fail to perform as per the expectations of the Government will be punished. The Government wants implementation of the schemes to be perfect so that benefit could reach the poor,” Chief Minister said in his first inspection to village post lok Sabha results where Samajwadi Party was wiped out.

He held panchayat at Bhartha Pur, a lohia village in Srawasti district. He met people, talked to them about development programme and met school children and enquired about copies and books made available by the Government.

As complaint started pouring in Chief Minister questioned the officials. When one of the SDMs tried to question villagers Chief Minister asked him to go out of the chaupal. He even asked District Magistrate Bhanu Chandra Goswami as why benefits have reached villagers he came up with bureaucratic answer that delivery system will be speeded up.

The Chief Minister gave a long pause and then asked his Principal Secretary Rakesh garg to transfer the district magistrate. He also ordered suspension of six other officers including Chief Medical Officer, Executive Engineer, power, Executive Engineer, (RES), District Supply Officer, Deputy Director, Agriculture and District Mine officer.

The villagers spoke about non availability of electricity. They said medicines were also not available in village PHC. Others complained that they were not getting sugar and rice from local ration shop. He warned SP to keep an eye on the crime front.

“My such inspections would continue. People are not getting benefit they should get. I will ensure that people get the benefit at their door steps,” he said. CM had earlier in a meeting with officials had declared that he would carry out surprise inspection of the districts to review the development progress. Yadav was earlier slated to visit Hamirpur district, but he changed his program at the last hour and visited Bhartha Pur village in Shrawasti.
