Akhilesh lauds ministers, leaders for SP victory

Elated by Samajwadi Party’s victory in the recent bypolls in the state, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav lauded the efforts of his ministers and party leaders saying it was their hard work that ensured party’s success in the by-election.

“Some parties wanted to change the political direction in the state but the people thwarted their attempts and supported the Samajwadi Party,” Yadav said at a function of the labour Department in his official residence here on Friday.

“All the ministers worked very hard and with the support of the people we saved the state from going into the hands of communal forces. It is the victory of secular forces,” Akhilesh Yadav, who is also state president of the party, said.

Yadav said some people had earlier written off the Samajwadi Party after lok Sabha elections.

But the bypolls have shown the might and popularity of the Samajwadi Party, he added.

The Chief Minister presented three newly-elected MlAs —  Nawab Jaan from Thakurdwara, Akshyawar lal Gaur from Balha (reserved) seat in Bahraich and Vachaspati from Sirathu — to the media at the function.
