Realising that the Samajwadi Party lost lok sabha election because it failed to spread the message of good work being done by the Government, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has asked party workers to organise meetings on June 2 at district headquarters to popularise Government’s achievements.
“Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has directed workers to hold meetings at all the district headquarters on June 2 where people should be told about Government’s pro-people projects,” party spokesperson Rajendra Chaudhary said in a statement issued here on Sunday.
He said that to start with these meetings would be held at district headquarters and then in June itself such meetings would be organised at the block level to take message deep down up to the village level. “These meetings will help in establishing dialogue between the party workers and common people,” he said.
After a series of review meetings carried out in the party headquarters last week after the ignominious defeat SP received in just concluded lok sabha election, the party has decided to go back to the people. There is a feeling that Government had launched many progressive, pro-farmer and pro-youth schemes but the party was not able to get the desired results.
“The State Government had launched many schemes for the welfare of farmers, Muslims, youth for their social and economic development. Samajwadi Party Government has given a new agenda of development in the state. Chief Minister wants holistic development of the state. But it is now clear the people do not know about these schemes,” Chaudhry, who is also jail minister said in his statement.
He talked about other welfare projects in health sector like ambulance services like 108 and 102 schemes and initiated projects for the development of agriculture sector. “There seems to be some missing link and in coming June the party will try to identify that link to that government could serve people better,” he said.
In last 2009 lok Sabha Samajwadi Party had 21 MPs but this time it was reduced to 5 – all of them are from Yadav family. In a knee jerk reaction the ruling party has sacked 36 leaders, having status of minister of state in the government and has also dissolved its state unit.
