On the conclusion of Jan Vishwash Yatra in Lucknow, Bharatiya Janata Party president JP Nadda attacked Samajwadi Party, saying that Akhilesh Yadav was a supporter of terrorism and had proposed the release of 15 terrorists, of which four were later sentenced to death and 11 others to life imprisonment.
Addressing rallies in Basti and Lucknow on Monday, Nadda said, “Akhilesh engages in the politics of dividing people in the name of religion and caste. Otherwise, what was the need to invoke Jinnah in his speech, a man who divided the country? On the contrary, the BJP focuses on Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas. Our leaders Narendra Modi and Yogi Adityanath believe in the development of the country and the state, not clinging to power.”
Nadda asked the people whether they wanted a government that protected terrorists to which the crowd roared with a tumultuous ‘No’.
“The previous Akhilesh government in Uttar Pradesh had promised to provide laptops to the youth. For this, over 15 lakh laptops were bought, but only 6.25 lakh were distributed. Where did the rest of the laptops go? Yogi's government has distributed one lakh tablets and smartphones to the youth and this number will go up to one crore,” he said.
Taking a jibe at Akhilesh Yadav's promise of 300 units of free electricity, the BJP stalwart said that while in power, the SP regime could not ensure proper power supply across the state and now they were promising free electricity.
“The Modi government has provided electricity to 18,000 villages of the country in 1,000 days. The Yogi government has provided electricity to eight lakh houses in Uttar Pradesh. The previous government was corrupt and pocketed the money meant for the poor,” he alleged.
Speaking at a rally in Lucknow, Nadda targeted the Congress saying that those who talk about women empowerment by saying that they can fight, did not remember women for the last 70 years.
“When women of 11 crore households used to defecate in the open, then they were not ashamed and now they are coining slogan of women empowerment. The difference is clearly visible as now money of the schemes goes directly to the bank accounts of people. We are confident about our achievements and therefore we are going to the people with the report card. We have good governance to show while the opposition were masters of misgovernance,” Nadda said.
Later, training his guns at Mayawati, the BJP chief said, “The BSP regime had sold 21 sugar mills and the next government of Akhilesh Yadav closed down 11 mills. On the other hand, the Yogi government reopened three mills and made 54 distilleries functional.”
Speaking on improved law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh, Nadda said, “Over 700 riots took place during the previous SP regime in the state. The situation has changed now. A woman can now return home midnight. This is Uttam Pradesh that the Yogi government has transformed the state into.”
