Akhilesh alleges conspiracy by oppn parties

Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav smelt foul play in  Muzaffarnagar violence and accused the opposition parties  for hatching a conspiracy to malign and dislodge his  Government.

Talking to newsmen here on Monday at a function to see  off Haj pilgrims leaving for Mecca, the CM said the  opposition parties had joined hands against his  Government, which was doing commendable work in  alleviating the plight of the poor and downtrodden.

Even as the blame game continued with the BSP, BJP and  RlD  holding the SP Government responsible for the  communal strife in Muzaffarnagar, the CM said he had  assured the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and state  Governoir Bl Joshi of restoring peace and controlling the  situation soon.

The CM went on to say that the opposition was escalating  trouble and demanding imposition of President's rule in UP  in its efforts of tarnishing the image of his Government by  spreading hatred among the people. Hitting out at his rival  parties, the CM blamed them for inciting violence for their  own political gains. He skirted all queries on the

Mahapanchayat, which had been held earlier.  The CM said he was personally monitoring the situion in  Muzaffarnagar and had removed senior police officers. He  said no laxity by the district and police officials would be  tolerated. Restoration of peace and maintaining law and  order was the top priority of the Government at this point  of time.

Yadav said, "The opposition parties are unable to accept  the fact that my Government is doing a good job for all  sections of society including the youth and Muslim and are  therefore resorting toall ways and means to defame my  Government". He said they had done the same earlier in Shamli where the opposition parties tried to vitiate  atmosphere of the state but the Government acted promptly  and thwarted their designs".

Senior Minister Mohd Azam Khan, who was also present at  the function, targetted the opposition parties for  deliberately escaliting the violence in Muzffarnagar in their  attempts to assume power. He described the violence as  more of a political than communal issue and asked the  people to apply restraint and maintain their tolerance level.
