All India Institute of Medical Sciences, the dream project of Congress president and MP from Rae Bareli, Sonia Gandhi, ran into trouble as the on-going construction work almost comes to halt due to terror of a local gangster.
The project has been reportedly hit when taking advantage of the deterioration grip of the State government on law and order front, a local Bharatiya Janta Party leader, Pushpendra Singh, having about two dozen heinous crimes registered against his name had gave life threat to project incharge and other staff that they should either pay him Rs 2 crore as extortion amount or be ready to face the bullets.
Surprisingly, the criminal struck at will on the construction site to terrorise the staff but the local police, who claimed to have already registered two separate cases in the matter so far had taken no further cognizance. Superintendent of Police (SP) in Rae Bareli, N Kolanchi confirmed that two FIRs have been lodged at Sadar Kotwali and Bhadokhar Police station respectively against BJP leader Pushpendra Singh for demanding extortion money from a company. “We are investigating the matter and the government has been informed about the case,” he said.
The first FIR has been registered by the Project Manager, Kailash Chandra of JMC company engaged in the construction work of AIIMS, Rae Bareli. While the second case was lodged by another employee of the same company. Police said as per the report, the first FIR lodged at Sadar Kotwali alleges that on the night of August 7, around 10-12 people, equipped firearms, with threatened the AGM Nandan Singh at Amreshpuri guest house.
They were demanding Rs 2 crore as extortion money to be sent to Pushpendra Singh and even threatened to eliminate them if they don’t pay the money. The goons even asked the AGM to talk to Pushpendra.
In another FIR at Bhadokar police station, the employee of the company Swapnesh Timodhi, a native of Chindhwara in MP alleged that Pushpendra Singh along with his supporters threatened him at the site of AIIMS for not paying the extortion
Money, on Tuesday. He said that the criminal also said that there is no use of reporting the matter to anyone but it he dared to not comply with his dictates than they had to face the music. Rae Bareli is the parliamentary constituency of Congress President, Sonia Gandhi and the AIIMS was sanctioned during the UPA regime as it was her dream project.
