Agrawal demands Rs 50 cr for network strengthening

Supreme Court Advocate and senior BJP leader Ajay Agrawal  has demanded an assistance of Rs 50 crore for strengthening of the electrical distribution network in Raebareli.

Agrawal met Union Power and Coal Minister Piyush Goyal and handed over a representation stating that though Raebareli is represented by UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi yet she has done nothing for the upgradation  of electrical distribution network of Raebareli rather get it stalled, wherein financing and monitoring is done by Central Government owned Power Financing Corporation.

Agrawal told the minister that this project of strengthening of electrical distribution network is done under the Restructured Accelerated Power Development and Reforms Programme (R-APDRP).

In this project 164 cities have been selected from Uttar Pradesh and in most of the cities the project is nearing completion while here in Raebareli it is not yet lunched.

BJP leader told the Union Minister that in 2010 an estimate for 26.81 crores for Raebareli under this R-APDRP scheme was made and now because of the escalation the cost should not be less than 50 crore. “This money should be released immediately,” he said.

“The Minister has assured me that after consulting the concerned officers he will pass necessary  orders for strengthening of electrical distribution network and release of funds at the earliest,” Agarwal said.
