Agitated teachers relaxes on CM announcement

The on-going agitation of the teachers of non-aided schools has been called off soon after the Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav announced to look into the demand and made financial provisions in the next budget to facilitate honorarium.

The striking teachers were demanding honorarium since a long time and the Samajwadi Party during their election campaign had promised to provide the same if voted to power but the promise was yet to be fulfilled. However, Yadav, who finally kept his promise had also asked the striking teaching staff to improve the quality of education and gave a clear cut message to the delegate which met him here on Monday morning that the government would not tolerate sub-standard education given to the students.

According to official communiqué of the government released on Monday afternoon, chief minister announced that the government will provide financial grants to the teachers of the unaided schools in the state from the next budget session. The CM also said that all the payment to be made to the teachers would be done through cheques and announced that in no condition the quality of teaching in the government schools would be compromised.

The decisions were taken at a meeting held between the government officials and the delegation of MlCs of  Teachers Group of  the unaided schools of the State.

It may be mentioned that On September 1 and 4 earlier this month, thousands of teachers of un-aided schools including BPEd degree holders, demanding government jobs in primary and secondary schools, clashed with the police in the state capital. However, on Monday soon after the government’s announcement, the unaided teachers association withdrew their agitation.

Besides Akhilesh Yadav, the meeting was also attended by state secondary education minister Mahboob Ali, Principal Secretary secondary education Jitendra Kumar, MlC Sanjay Kumar Mishra, MlC Umesh Dwivedi along with other members of the teachers association. Talking to media persons soon after meeting chief minister, Teachers Group leaders claimed that their talk with Akhilesh Yadas was very fruitful and they hope that all their demands would be met by the government at the time of making financial allocation during budget session
