Aged UPP personnel with poor track records to be retired

Published on:

The Uttar Pradesh Police department is currently in the process of identifying police personnel with poor track records who have reached the age of 50 or are older. These officers will face compulsory retirement following recommendations from the screening committee.

To facilitate this process, the ADG (Establishment) has called upon all range IGs, ADGs and DGs from various units of the UP Police to provide a list of such personnel by November 30.

The list will comprise individuals who have attained the age of 50 by March 31, 2023, and is designed to streamline the police force by removing personnel who may no longer be deemed fit for service.

ADG (Establishment) Sanjay Singhal issued an official directive, outlining the need for district authorities to conduct a thorough screening and subsequently enforce the compulsory retirement of police personnel reaching the age of 50 by the specified date.

This measure is being described as a routine action within the police department aimed at maintaining efficiency and accountability.

The screening process will target officers who have been accused of corruption, have a history of physical disabilities, maintain a poor service record, or have been involved in criminal cases.

Additionally, personnel facing allegations of misconduct or displaying consistent absenteeism will also fall within the purview of this review.

This proactive approach by the UP Police department underscores their commitment to enhancing the quality and performance of the police force, ensuring that officers meet the necessary standards of professionalism and integrity.

The compulsory retirement of officers who no longer meet these criteria is expected to contribute to a more efficient and effective law enforcement agency in the state.
