After SP, BSP too attacks State Govt over deteriorating law and order

After Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav attacked the Yogi government on deteriorating law and order, Bahujan Samaj Party president Mayawati too targeted the Chief Minister alleging that the saffron brigade has been given a free hand to break the law.

Interacting with party leaders to discuss poll strategy for the coming urban bodies polls in the state, the former UP CM alleged that instead of doing concrete work in larger public interest, the BJP government was following the foot step of the Centre and giving importance to gaining cheap publicity.

Attacking Hindu Vahini activists, Mayawati ddittoed Akhilesh Yadav’s allegation that those sporting saffron scarves had got the licence to beat up cops and attack police stations after the change of guard in UP.

The comments from both leaders came in the backdrop of right-wing activists thrashing cops in Saharanpur and later Agra besides other law and order breakdowns in the state.

"The saffron brigade has been given a free run to play with law and order like it was given to goondas and mafia during the previous (SP) regime. This is a dangerous trend growing under the present regime.People are trying to become heroes by playing with law and order," she opined.

"The deprived sections, Dalits and backwards were feeling harassed because of the policies and programmes of the ruling BJP and their condition was no different from what it was during the SP government," alleged the BSP chief.

Mayawati also reviewed the preparations the preparations for the urban local bodies elections and issued directives to party men to deal with political challenges.
