After poll debacle state cong falls apart

Published on:

After its electoral debacle in Assembly polls, Congress in Uttar Pradesh has now started to fall apart. On Tuesday, the party expelled sitting MlC Dinesh Pratap Singh for allegedly being in talks with BJP leaders. In a sudden move, Rae Bareli district Congress chief VK Shukla announced Singh's expulsion with immediate effect. Shukla told reporters at Rae Bareli on Tuesday evening that the MlC was expelled for derogatory statement against party workers and against Congress president Sonia Gandhi's reprsentative at Rae Bareli, Kl Sharma.  A senior party leader said that there were reports that Dinesh Pratap Singh , who won the election from local bodies, was set to join the BJP. Singh held a press conference at Rae Bareli last Sunday during which he abused party leaders and workers. Now the Congress is left with merely one MlC, Deepak Singh in the UP legislative council who is from adjoining Amethi area, represented by Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi.
