After almost a month-and-half, the much awaited Cabinet meeting of the Yogi Adityanath government will be held on Tuesday in which the state government is expected to finalise the transfer policy and take decisions on pending issues.
A government official told The Pioneer here on Monday that the Cabinet meeting would be held at 11 am and was likely to continue for an hour or so.
Many decisions, which were pending because of the Model Code of Conduct being in force, were expected to be taken up on Tuesday, he said.
The last Cabinet meeting was held on March 8 before the Model Code of Conduct came into force for 78 days.
Sources say the Cabinet may finalise the transfer policy whose nitty-gritty awaits Cabinet nod. Generally, the deadline for transfer ends on May 31 but this year the deadline is sure to increase. The Cabinet will decide the modalities as generally only 10 per cent of the staff are transferred and the policy also contains many riders.
The spokesman said the government may also take decision on wheat purchase and set guidelines for the construction of Purvanchal and Bundelkhand expressways.
“There are around a dozen issues which need Cabinet approval and these will be discussed threadbare in the meeting,” the official said.
The Cabinet is also likely to congratulate Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the resounding success in the Lok Sabha election.
Three Cabinet ministers — Rita Bahuguna Joshi (Tourism), Satyadeo Pachauri (Khadi and Gramodyog) and SPS Baghel (Animal Husbandry) are also likely to attend the Cabinet meeting, their last in UP. They have been elected to the Lok Sabha and would be taking oath as members of the 17th Lok Sabha.
Rita Bahuguna Joshi has been elected to the Lok Sabha from Allahabad, Pachauri from Kanpur and Baghel from Agra.
