Action taken against senior district officers in connection with some crime cases

Action taken against senior district officers in connection with some crime cases which led to widespread agitation, pointed that state government is working under pressure on law and order front, particularly as in-depth probe later-on pointed a different story.
Besides a series of cases, the most glaring of them are incidents in Badaun, Meerut or in Jalaun, which all showed that action against local officials is unwanted. Surprisingly, even the State government now realised their mistake and had blamed Opposition parties for unnecessary making hue and cry just to make political gain out of crime incidents. If one goes by the development in Badaun incident in which bodies of two cousin were found hanging after they were alleged to be raped by local youths. After the media and some political groups raised the issue attacking the government for failing on law and order front, the top bureaucrats along with top cop of the State seems to have acted in haste and suspended local officials including then district magistrate and senior superintendent of police, accusing them of not taking prompt action.
However, the investigation both by the state agencies and the one made so far by the sleuths of the Central Bureau of Investigation, pointed entirely a different story. While all those named and arrested by UP police are now out on bail after no evidence came up against them so far, the enquiry also laid suspicion on the involvement of the family members though so far no legal action has been initiated against them. Interestingly, besides suspension those cops named in the First Information Repot were also terminated immediately without even waiting to get the departmental probe completed.
In Meerut case of forcible conversion of a girl and that she was also forced to go for an operation, on which Bharatiya Janta Party launched a big agitation in the name of `love-Jehad’, the government took action against some local officials but the probe by them pointed a different story. It showed that the victim had lied before the police which unnecessary created a storm over `love-Jehad’.
Recently in the Jalaun incident, two sisters, who were declared dead after their bodies being identified by family members, have been found alive in Ghaziabad, but till than all local policemen including the investigating officers along with then SP Jalaun, Rakesh Shankar already faced suspension. In this case also, both media and some political parties besides local public staged a strong protest following which the government seems to have acted in pressure and in order to defuse the matter, they axed the officers. Interestingly, in this case also like the one in Badaun, the foul play is suspected on part of the parents and family members, who mislead everyone including the probing team by claiming that the two unidentified bodies recovered by local police was that of their two missing daughters who were alleged to be kidnapped and murdered. Now the girls were held enjoying with alleged accused, and they also asserted to live with them citing threat to their lives now from their own parents. A senior officer when contacted on the above issue confessed on condition of anonymity that they had acted in haste in many cases and punished the officials but also defended the move saying that some time they had to take diplomatic decision just to maintain peace as well as law and order in the state.
