Two school girls of class ninth standard were seriously injured when two youths threw acid on them when they were returning from their school in Gangaganj area of Rae Bareli on Thursday morning. Senior officers including SP Rae Bareli, Rajesh Pandey visited the spot and instructed the local police to arrest the criminals.
Reports said that Pooja and Anamika (both name changed), students of standard ninth of Chandrapal Inter College at Gangaganj in Rae Bareli were returning to their home after appearing in the half-yearly exams when two youths riding on a two-wheeler intercepted them. The accused made some advances on the girls and as they protested, they threw acid over them and escaped. Both the victims suffered 50 per cent burn injury on their face and body. They were immediately rushed to the district hospital by the local villagers who also informed the incident to the local police. A case was registered and a massive hunt was launched to nab the culprits who were found absconding from their homes. The cops said that it seems to be a case of one sided love affair as both the accused were following the victims for last few days and were upset after the two inform their parents about the incident.
Meanwhile in a separate incident a youth was shot dead while three others of his family were seriously injured when armed miscreants opened fire upon them in Meerganj area of Bareilly on Thursday afternoon. Reports said that about a dozen armed miscreants struck at the house of victim Israr in Meerganj locality. They later freely opened indiscriminate fire and killed Israr besides critically injuring his family members. Surprisingly the incident took place in broad daylight but neither the local residents nor the police force deployed in the area reached the venue in time. The cops just shifted the injured to District Hospital and claimed to have registered a case and were looking for the motive so they could close down on the killers.
