Negligence of the cops to act swiftly on information of kidnapping of three persons led to killing of two of the victims while the third one managed to save his life by slipping from the custody of accused. It was only after passing of 24-hours and recovery of both the bodies, the cops swung into action and arrested three accused and recovered weapons along with Scorpio, all used in the sensational crime. Surprisingly the incident took place just on apprehension that the victims were involved in a theft case.
Reports said that 38-year-old Sachidanand Rai aka Babloo, Rajesh Rajbhar and Suresh Gupta (30), all residents of Asawar locality of Karimudeenpur in Gazipur district were kidnapped by Pankaj Rai, and his accomplices on Tuesdayafternoon. The accused came on a Scorpio Jeep (UP61AB-1414), huddled all the three in the jeep and later abducted them. Babloo’s brother Jitendra Kumar Rai immediately rushed to the local police station and lodged case of kidnapping against Pankaj Rai, Sarfaraz, Kamlesh Yadav and other unknown miscreants. He claimed that the miscreants just kidnapped the above persons as they apprehended that the victims were involved in theft of a tube-well motor, which was stolen from farmhouse of Pankaj Rai, last week.
Reports said that despite of Jitendra named and revealed the entire sequence of event along with details of vehicle used in the crime but the cops refused to take any action and had not even tried to grill the accused in this regard. The callousness of the cops proved costly on Wednesday when the body of Babloo was found abandoned in Gehmar locality of Gazipur while body of Suresh Gupta was recovered from Suhwal area of Gazipur on Wednesday noon. The above bodies were recovered only after the third victim Rajesh Rajbhar, who managed to slip from the custody of the accused, reached back home and narrated the entire incident and that how the accused brutally assaulted them and later also opened fire in which the above two were killed.
Reports said that after recovery of the bodies, the senior officers along with local police swung into action and within no time, they managed to nab all the three named accused and recovered the four-wheeler along with weapons used in the crime. The family members of the victim and local villagers who staged a protest against inaction of the cops said that if the police acted promptly and arrested the accused on Tuesday evening than the lives of both the victims could be saved. The cops who registered a case of kidnapping had now altered the matter as that of abduction and murder. Force has been also deployed in the village to avert any further untoward incident.
