AAP leader slams UP govt for atrocities against Dalits

Published on:

Rajya Sabha member and Aam Aadmi Party’s UP incharge, Sanjay Singh, said on Saturday that the UP government ranked number one in atrocities against Dalits, crime against women, corruption and malnutrition.

He said the Bharatiya Janata Party government was making a mockery of the poor in the name of Anna Mahotsav (food festival).

Singh was addressing the party workers and leaders on the completion of one month of the party's UP Jodo membership campaign on Saturday.

Singh said UP was at its lowest on all fronts in the four-and-a-half-year regime of Yogi Adityanath.

“In the last four-and-a-half years, UP’s progress has sunk to the lowest. The BJP leaders have a special penchant for boasting and they have installed several hoardings showing the Yogi government as number one. I want to know which achievement of the Yogi government is number one?” he said.

He hit out at the BJP government in UP, saying it was at number one position in Dalits’ oppression, spurt in crime against women, corruption and other aspects.

“In health sector, UP stands at 21th position in our country, in education it is at 18th position but it is at number one position in malnutrition in the light of data available in the public domain,” he commented.

Singh said the Yogi government was making a show of poverty of the  poor by holding Anna festival. “For five kg of food grain, people have to wait for five hours in a long queue. The government is using the money propagating its achievements. The bags which are being given to beneficiaries bear photos of BJP leaders and BJP’s election symbol,” he pointed out.

He said the UP Governor should take cognisance of these violations as the public money was being used in publicity of BJP.

He also raised the Lord Ram temple issue and said the delay behind the construction of the temple was due to “land fraud and theft of donation” which had surfaced recently.

He also raised the Auraiya dowry death case saying the family of the woman Gauri Trivedi was running from one place to other to seek justice.

Singh said the AAP membership campaign would be extended for a fortnight as the party workers and leaders could not contact the willing people due to heavy rains in some districts of UP.
