AAP leader: UP has become a police oppression state

Published on:

Addressing a virtual rally from the Aam Aadmi Party office, Rajya Sabha member and UP in-charge of the party, Sanjay Singh, said that Uttar Pradesh had literally become a police oppression state in view of the police excesses on the public and the Yogi Adityanath government was responsible for this.

“The CBI has charge-sheeted six policemen for the murder of Kanpur native businessman Manish Gupta in a Gorakhpur hotel. A man in Kanpur’s Ghatampur ended his life by consuming poison as the police beat him instead of registering a case. Not only this, there are numerous examples showing police highhandedness against the public that went unpunished. In Hathras Dalit girl’s rape case, the Bharatiya Janata Party government stood firm with the accused involved in the crime and the body of the girl was cremated at the night without her family’s consent,” he pointed out.

The AAP leader said that the 2022 UP assembly elections would change the future of the citizens of the state if they unseated the BJP from power.

“Our party stands by the promise of free electricity, education, unemployment allowances of Rs 5,000, Rs 1,000 to each woman as Mahila Samman Nidhi. Only AAP has the formula to provide 300 units of free electricity round the clock as we have done in Delhi. Other parties, including the ruling BJP, will contest elections on the basis of money (mudra) , we will contest on the basis of issues (mudda). I appeal to all of you to cast your vote setting aside caste and religion to choose a better government as promised by the AAP,” he said.

Singh virtually addressed the Kejriwal Guarantee rally for Varanasi on this occasion and enumerated the welfare schemes that the AAP was running in Delhi.

“The AAP will be successful in spreading the Kejriwal model of governance in Uttar Pradesh by using technology. We got linked with people through social media platforms,” he said.

Hitting out at the government in UP, the AAP leader said that the BJP insulted the farmers by offering them peanuts for their hard work.

“The government rolled back the black farm laws and withdrew it under immense pressure from the farmers who consistently staged demonstrations braving all odds and adverse weather conditions,” he said.

Singh further said, “The BJP government in Uttar Pradesh did not give jobs to the youths to whom it had promised a prospective future at the time of 2017 elections. The youths were instead cane-charged by the police for demanding jobs from the government. The youths, who prepared for competitive exams studying day and night, felt cheated when the papers of the exams were leaked.”

The AAP leader said that governments of different parties had been cheating the people in the state for the last 75 years while taking their support. “They are striking gold now and we are still suffering. Our issues are the same and are lying in the corner, unaddressed as yet. The Bharatiya Janata Party, Samajwadi Party, and Bahujan Samaj Party were in power I UP for a long time but they did nothing for you. Now the ball is in your court,” he said.

Raking up the issue of irregularities in purchase of land for the Ram temple in Ayodhya, Singh said, “The BJP men embezzled the donation which devotees had given for the construction of a grand temple of Lord Shri Ram. Ye na to Ram ke hain na hi kisi kam ke hai (They are neither of Lord Rama nor of any worth).”
