Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) lucknow unit announced to adopt Dwarka Assembly Seat during Delhi Assembly elections. The party volunteers will reach to help in canvassing and reaching out to the locals.
“For helping the party in winning the Delhi elections we have decided to adopt Dwarka seat. Adding to it, Adarsh Shastri grandson of former Prime Minister lal Bahadur Shastri is contesting election from the same constituency. The lucknow unit will become party’s unit to do so,” said Member National Council, Anmol while talking to the pressmen on Tuesday. He said as AAP will be contesting Delhi Assembly elections against big political parties, this decision had been taken for strengthening the party in Delhi. “We have limited number of volunteers that’s why only one constituency had been taken up and work collectively. This seat was not fetched by AAP in previous elections but this time we will work to win this one too,” he added.
Rishi Raghav of AAP lucknow said first batch of 15 party volunteers will leave for Delhi on Wednesday. On the regular interval of 3-4 days volunteers will keep on leaving for the constituency. Notably, Adarsh Shasri was the front runner for lucknow Parliamentary Constituency but AAP Parliamentary committee announced Actor turned politician Javed Jaafri’s candidature. After which Shastri was shifted to Allahabad seat but he was not able to fetch the seat there. In an email sent to AAP lucknow, Adarsh Shastri had welcomed the step and thanked them for coming to his help in contesting elections. He hoped that with such support of volunteers winning the seat will not be a tough task.
