In a bizarre incident, a youth and his kin brutally battered a younger brother to death over collecting of wood for cremation of his mother from an orchard at Sarwan locality of Asoha in Unnao.
As per reports, Hariram’s mother died at Sarwan locality of Asoha on Tuesday. Since Hariram (35) was poor and had no money to arrange wood for the cremation, he went to his brother Shyamsunder on Wednesday and requested him to give some wood for the last rites from his orchard. The matter took an ugly turn when Hariram tried to cut a tree which was objected by Shyamsynder.
later Shyamsunder’s son Asheesh, along with his cousin Anshu reached the spot and brutally attacked Hariram with sticks and rods in which he was critically injured. Hariram’s wife Nanhi Devi rushed to the spot and somehow rescued her husband. With the help of some neighbours, she rushed him to a Community Health Centre (CHC) where he succumbed to his injuries later on Wednesday night.
The Asoha police registered a case and with the help of neighbours cremated the victim’s mother. Efforts were on to nab the accused who absconded after the attack.
