A woman from Alwar district of Rajasthan was put behind bars for trying to misuse the stringent law in rape cases and make fast bucks in Mathura.

The woman formed a gang, lured a youth on Whatsapp and tried to blackmail him after levelling rape charges. The victim’s family struck a deal and informed the police which led to her arrest and one of her cronies, while two others fled the spot.

Station House Officer of Vrindawan police station in Mathura, Subodh Kumar said that Diljeet Kaur of Alwar turned up at the police station on April 13 alleging that she was raped inside a hotel Praveen of Palwal in Haryana, a day before.

She claimed that the accused was a `Whatsapp friend’ and lured her to  visit Vrindawan for darshan. She said that on April 12, she visited Mathura and they booked a hotel in Vrindawan area. She alleged that the same night, Praveen raped her and threatened her with dire consequences if she revealed anything to the police.

“On her complaint, a case was launched and a hunt was launched for the accused. The matter took an interesting turn when Praveen also contacted him later and informed that it was the woman who cheated,” said  the cop.

Confirming Kaur’s friendship with him over ‘Whatsapp’, Praveen said that it was Kaur who invited her to Vrindawan.

“The youth also said after registering a fake rape case, Kaur contacted him and demanded Rs 35 lakh for withdrawing the case. He said that the deal was settled at Rs 25 lakh and he was to come to Mathura to deliver the money at Prem Temple in Vrindawan on Thursday evening,” said the SHO.

Shocked by the youth’s disclosure, the SHO formed a team in civvies and sent it with Praveen. After finding Praveen’s claim true, they dropped the net on Kaur and an aide identified as Mahaveer of Palwal. Two of Kaur’s cronies, presumably lawyers, managed to flee the spot.

The police has now registered case of blackmailing and extortion against Kaur and her associates and sent them to jail. A report will be filed in the court to get the rape case expunged.

Meanwhile in Muzaffarnagar, an eight -year-old boy, who was missing since April 20, was found dead on Friday morning. The police later arrested a suspect.

As per rteports, the boy was sodomised in 2016 and a case was pending in court. He was abducted and killed after his parents refused to withdraw the case. It was alleged that the boy was sexually assaulted before being killed. After his death came to light, villagers protested and refused to hand over the body to police. However, senior officials reached there and pacified them after which the body was sent for autospy. A case was registered against three persons and one of them was arrested.
