Despite blanket ban on sale of acid in compliance of Supreme Court’s directive to check upon the growing incidents of acid attack, a woman suffered acid attack in Mathura district.
The victim, who is a resident of laxmi Nagar, was returning home after paying obeisance at a temple, when her three neighbours threw acid upon her. The victim sustained critical burns after the acid was splashed upon her face in Govindpur area. A critically burnt has been admitted to hospital.
Fearing the issue may invite public ire; the police swung into action and arrested one of the accused. Man-hunt for the others miscreants are on.Preliminary investigation revealed that the woman had a verbal spat with the named miscreants over an issue on June 6. Since then the miscreants were looking for a chance to teach a lesson to the victim and they execute the crime when they found her returning her home all alone.
It may be mentioned that the Apex Court had issued stern directions to put a check on the growing incidents of acid attack and also highlighted upon the need for a regulation on the sale of acid in the markets. But as the police failed to implement the apex court’s order in no uncertain terms, the miscreants continue to commit acid attack on victims out of their vengeance.
